Men of the Nigeria Police Force
Vanguard reports that operatives attached to the Abia State Police Command have foiled an attempt to steal a two-week old baby by two yet-to-be-identified men in Amaede village, Isiala Ngwa South local government area of the state.
It was learnt that the men invaded the residence of one Uzoma Nweze, inflicted machete cut on the baby’s mother simply identified as Gloria while attempting to whisk the baby away. Both men however fled the scene without the baby as neighbours alerted the police who rushed to the scene of the incident.
Nemesis however caught up with one of the hoodlums as he was identified to be residing in the neighbouring community of Umuokoro village.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ezekiel Onyeke, said one of the suspects was arrested with his house searched.
Onyeke disclosed that the police, during the search, recovered two locally made single barrel guns, a live and two expended cartridges, an iron rod and a photographed portrait.
According to the PPRO, other items recovered include: one locally made double barrel gun, one machete, two expended cartridges, a mask, two handsets, a pair of rubber slippers and two sets of head torch.
He further revealed that the mother of the baby has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the second suspect
